It can be a minefield, so much choice, so many different brands and models, various retailers but which trainers are best for you?

Unfortunately, there is not one simple answer as everybody’s needs and requirements, budget, as well as feet are totally different. Hopefully this blog will help a little though.

If your thing is heavy weight training, then you will need a trainer with a flat rigid hard sole. This gives you a better connection with the floor, helping to stabilize as you perform your big moves. Examples of these type of trainer are the Nike Metcon, Adidas Dropset and Vivo Barefoot. Some lifters opt for Converse or even no trainers.

If you are after a running trainer then firstly you need to think about what sort of distance and terrain you are going to be doing. If you are an average miles runner then do ensure that you have a well cushioned trainer. If you are longer distance running then a highly cushioned option will be preferred. If you prefer off road running then a trail trainer with a more rugged rubber tread will be best.
