Pregnancy massage is a brilliant way to help reduce stress and tension during pregnancy. It aims to help mum-to-be feel good by releasing endorphins and reduces stress! It is a relaxing massage with smooth flowing strokes to promote increased blood flow and mobility.
Increasing blood flow and circulation will encourage oxygen and nutrients to travel around the body to wherever it is needed most, meaning your baby gets what he or she needs as well as you! The massage strokes will boost your lymphatic system resulting in toxins getting flushed through your system which will also help to reduce any swelling.
Your massage can focus on any specific areas of tension you may have – commonly lower back or the upper back and shoulders during pregnancy – and help to ease these, reducing lower back pain and pregnancy headaches.
The aim of a pregnancy massage is to reduce muscle and joint pain, as well as helping you to maintain a good posture which will keep you more balanced throughout your pregnancy. It will help you to sleep better and promotes a calm and relaxed feeling, meaning less stress for both you and the baby!
Pregnancy massage can be carried out in a seated or side lying position (whatever is most comfortable), making sure baby stays safe and mum feels at ease. It will also avoid certain areas and pressure points on areas such as the abdomen.
These treatments aren’t limited to during pregnancy as they can also be done postpartum to help you relax and to reduce any swelling or aches you may have, as well as helping to give you that feel good factor and reduce stress.
