What is exercise rehab?
Exercise rehab uses rehabilitation exercises to aid your recovery from injury or surgery. It complements soft tissue treatment and is specific to each individual depending on the nature of your injury or weakness and which areas you are struggling with.
What can I expect from an exercise rehab session?
Exercise rehab will focus on your injured or weak areas and your therapist will give you specific exercises to work on these. It may involve stretches, strengthening or mobility exercises depending on what you need to help return your injury or weakness back to full and correct function. During these sessions your therapist will be there guiding you to ensure that you have the correct technique and form to get the most out of these exercises, which will help to speed up your recovery process. You will then be given these exercises to take away and carry on as part of your recovery.
What is the aim of an exercise rehab session?
The aim of exercise rehab is to help you return to full fitness with your muscles and tissues functioning properly whilst also gaining minimal risk of re-injury and keeping pain free. It can help to strengthen weaknesses or imbalances, as well as aiding injury or surgery recovery and strengthening to reduce the likelihood of injury recurrence.
Who can benefit from exercise rehab?
Exercise rehab is suitable for anyone with an injury or weakness that is affecting them during sport, exercise or daily life. It can be beneficial for gym go-ers or sports people recovering from injuries, or for people recovering from non-sport related traumas or surgeries.
