What is dry cupping?
Dry cupping is an effective way of increasing blood flow and releasing toxins using cups and a suction pump. It creates a vacuum which lifts the skin and fascia covering the muscles. Lifting these tissues creates room for increased blood flow to the affected area meaning the toxins are drawn nearer to the skin and able to be removed by the body.
What can I expect from a dry cupping session?
Sessions can focus on more generalised restricted areas, as well as targeting specific areas that need focusing on due to tension build up which can contribute towards injury.
Your therapist will usually combine this treatment with hands on massage and soft tissue techniques to warm the muscles up prior to cupping and to complement it afterwards. Active movements may be performed while the cups are in place to contract and relax the muscle and tissues underneath. Sliding cupping is also beneficial and this is when the cup is vacuumed and then moved across an area of restriction.
What is the aim of a dry cupping session?
