Try these easy to make yet healthy burgers that are a great source of protein!

Ingredients (serves 8, adjust accordingly):

  • 500g turkey mince
  • 2 cloves fresh or 1.5tsp frozen chopped/dried garlic
  • 1 slice wholemeal bread whizzed into crumbs
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp fresh/frozen/dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to season
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1tbsp olive or rapeseed oil

Method:

  • Heat the oven to 200oC fan/180 oC/gas 6.
  • Next, prepare the mince.  Mix the turkey mince, breadcrumbs, basil, onion and garlic with the beaten egg and some seasoning until combined.
  • Split the mixture into 8 even parts and shape into patties (with lightly floured hands if desired).  
  • Gently heat the olive oil in a non-stick pan and sear the patties on both sides until lightly browned.
  • Transfer to a non-stick baking sheet and cook in the oven for 10-15 mins or until cooked through.
  • Serve either with brown rice, noodles or salad.
